Description

Very sweet Swallow brooch from c1920s. This brooch is silver, with delicately etched detailing onto the head, wings and tail of the bird. The bird's body and wings are set with good quality paste stones, and there is a tiny red stone at the eye of the bird. Would look fabulous on a jacket lapel or special outfit.

Finer Details

This item measures 5.3g. As well as becoming in vogue in the last 5 years or so, as a motif the Swallow has long been used in jewellery - particularly in Victorian and Deco times - for its symbolic connotations. A bird in flight usually symbolises the winged soul, but the swallow also strongly symbolises children/motherhood.
