Fabulous and unusual pendant that we have reworked from an original gold plated Victorian chatelaine and ornate watch fob set with an attractive amethyst stone. This striking piece has fabulous detailing, and is currently hung on a 9ct gold 18" belcher chain, but could be teamed with a gold plated chain to make it more accessibly priced. A truly special, statement piece of jewellery.

The drop of the pendant measures 98mm long by 10mm wide, and is hung on an 18" chain.

Finer Details

Chatelaines date back to the Middle Ages. The name comes from a French term for the "mistress of a castle'. A Chatelaine is an ornamental clasp or hook from which chains are hung that hold a watch, purse, keys, scissors, thimble case, etc. The chatelaine was especially popular in the 1800s, when it was made from gold, silver or pinchbeck, and fashioned into ornate and beautiful deigns which held keys, fobs, watches, sewing implements, beauty accessories, etc. They were the forerunner of the modern-day purse, but lost favor when the lives of women grew more complex. If you'd prefer this pendant on a gold plated chain, please email us at for details.
