Description

We have created a beautiful bespoke necklace from a classic Victorian 'Love' brooch. The hallmarked silver brooch is a leaf/oval shape with a swallow flying around ivy. The swallow symbolises faithful love and the ivy symbolises freindship and fidelity. Some of the detail to the front such as the ivy is gilded with 9ct gold which looks especially lovely as it catches in the light. The brooch section is hallmarked for 1897, and was stamped with the Birminham assay office anchor mark. The makers mark is W&L. We have converted this original brooch to a focal piece for a necklace, and attached each side to a split silver belcher chain (the classic Victorian style) to make a fabulous, unique necklace.

Size:

The central 'brooch' piece measures 43mm wide by 18mm tall, and is hung on a split 16" chain, making the length 17.5" in total.

Finer Details

The original Victorian part of the necklace is in generally great condition for its age, although one tiny part of the swallow's tail is missing, but you only notice if you're looking for it (see photos). This doesn;t detrect from the beauty of the piece.
