Elegant Mid 20th Century Salmon Coral Handmade Bead Necklace
Elegant and delicate pinky-salmon coloured coral bead necklace, with a silver screw clasp fitting. These pretty vintage beads have been hand made, we estimate in the late 1940s - 1960s. The necklace measures 16 inches in length, with each bead measuring c5mm.
Coral has been used in jewellery since ancient times, and given to symbolise protection, vital energy, and good fortune. During Queen Victoria's Grand Tour, she delighted in coral, and coral jewellery became popular as a symbol of feminine strength during the latter part of the19th Century and beyond.
Coral is an organic gemstone, and is now subject to strict restrictions due to environmental concerns around its harvesting process. Buying antique and vintage coral is the most sustainable and ethical choice - also usually the craftsmanship and quality is far superior.
As with all of our items, this comes boxed in our signature Violet Vintage box and packaging.
